The Oncology Nurse of the Year Award

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's National Capital Area Chapter is proud of this very special award.

Purpose
To award a professional oncology nurse for exemplary practice and experience in caring for patients with blood cancers.

Award
The Society's Oncology Nurse of the Year 2008 will receive

  • Two tickets to the 2008 Leukemia Ball with limo service provided by Fleet Transportation
  • Recognition at a professional association event
  • A celebration office lunch
  • Award presentation at a Light the Night Walk
  • A spa package from the Sugar House Day Spa in Alexandria, VA


Nomination Guidelines
Patients, family members, professional colleagues, physicians or nurses may nominate any registered nurse who meets the criteria for this award; nurses may also nominate themselves. To nominate a nurse, complete the nomination form below.

Qualifications for Nurse of the Year

  • Currently employed as a registered nurse with experience caring for people with blood cancers, or in the position of nurse manager, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse educator, transplant coordinator or case manager.
  • Two or more years in oncology nursing (prior to application due date) with experience caring for patients with blood cancers.
  • Live or work within the boundaries of the National Capital Area Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The area served by this chapter includes Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, Maryland; the District of Columbia, and the Northern Virginia cities / counties of Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.
  • Is not a staff, board or committee member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or any of the award sponsors and does not have references or a nominator from any of the above parties.

NOTE: An individual nominated in a previous year may be nominated again unless he or she has previously won this award.

Deadline
Nominations must be received by November 9, 2009.
