The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is delighted to celebrate the 6th Annual Divine 9 Open. The Divine 9 Open has been established to celebrate life, golf and a man who loved them both.
In the fall of 1998, Morton Dittus was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Six months after beginning treatments he was in remission. Two weeks later, things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse.
Always an athlete, Mort began playing golf in his mid-thirties and maintained a 20 handi-cap for the rest of his life. He had an uncanny ability to hit his 7 and 9 wood onto the green from almost anywhere. Since his Divine Nine wood brought him so much pleasure, he was promised to have it buried with him. When that day unexpectedly came, his family kept this promise.
This tournament is in loving memory of Mort and to help all the people that have been affected by leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The goal of the tournament's founders is to raise money to support research and find cures for blood cancers and raise awareness for orphan diseases.
