2nd Annual Ski4Life: March 11-12, 2006

Skiers and Snowboarders Raise Over $32,000 for a Cure!

Skiers and snowboarders participating in the 2nd Annual Ski4Life Marathon at Ski Roundtop in Lewisberry, PA raised over $32,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Central PA Chapter March 11th and 12th, 2006.

The event; organized by LLS and the Susquehanna Ski and Snowboard Club, and sponsored by Health America; invited individuals and teams from schools and corporations to raise money and spend a fun 24 hours on the slopes to help advance the mission os LLS to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The number of skiers and snowboarders more than doubled from last year, as did the amount of money raised.

The scene at the finish line was emotional and moving as some participants made it clear why they were there. Lara Hjortsberg of Team Bowie & Jensen, LLC boldly printed "SURVIVOR" across her ski bib to signify her triumph over non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Others, like Lynn Deibert and Buck Fritsch were skiing for family members. Deibert's mother lost her battle in 2004 to non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and Fritsch, the highest individual fundraiser in 2005 and the fourth highest this year, was skiing for his father, also a lymphoma survivor, who was there to cheer him on.

Most Vertical Feet - The Saints
