 1. Join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's® Advocates Network
As an advocate, you will be notified when you can impact the outcome of critical legislation. The action center makes it easy to track issues, reach representatives, and contact the media.  Sign up now!

2. Share your story
Everyone's blood cancer experience is unique.  Yours is powerful.  By sharing your story, you might encourage a newly-diagnosed patient, comfort a family member, or inspire someone to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's®(LLS) mission.  In addition to LLS's Life Mosaic, we offer other meaningful ways to share your story and connect with others.

3.  Become a First Connection Volunteer
First Connection is a peer-to-peer support program for newly-diagnosed patients and their families.  Speaking by telephone with someone who has "been through it," patients obtain valuable information about coping, community resources, and Society programs.  First Connection volunteers are blood cancer survivors at least one year out of treatment who complete a comprehensive training program before they are matched with patients with similar diagnoses.  Each match consists of one or two telephone conversations.  To learn more about this meaningful volunteer opportunity, call or email Francine Morrison.  Chapter office: (800) 726-2873.

4.  Be an Honored Patient
Honored patients are blood cancer survivors (either in treatment or remission), who inspire event participants and donors.  Serving as living symbols of hope, honored patients attend events and encourage participants with their words, pictures, and/or drawings.  Volunteers' time committment varies by event.  To learn more about the Western Pennsylvania & West Virginia Chapter's honored patient program, contact Francine Morrison at (800) 726-2873.

5.  Participate in Events
In addition to the wide variety of Patient Services events offered throughout the year, we invite you to participate in the Western PA & WV Chapter's fundraising events, including:

Light The Night® Walk
The Society's nationwide evening walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer.  Participants carry lighted balloons--white for survivors, red for supporters, gold in memory--creating a visual reminder of our mission.  The noncompetitive one-to-two mile walks are held mainly in September, which is Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month.  Join us in Pittsburgh, Erie, Uniontown, or Johnstown, PA; Wheeling or Morgantown, WV.  Learn more»

Team In Training®
The world's largest sports endurance training program is for beginers and seasoned athletes alike.  Chapter teams train for marathons, cycle centuries, and triathlons throughout the year.  The adventure of a lifetime, Team In Training has been a meaningful way for patients and family members to celebrate survivorship since its inception.  Learn more»
