CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR'S

WINNERS & CANDIDATES!!

On Tuesday, May 12th the 2009 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign culminated with the Grand Finale at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch!!  LLS staff, LLS board members, candidates' campaign teams and special friends celebrated these five dedicated individuals as they brought the 10 week journey to an an exciting end! 

The Grand Finale included an appearance by Guest Emcee Ron Oliveira of KEYE News,a Silent and Live Auction, an open bar and dinner buffet and music to celebrate!  The candidates collectively raised $49,500!  Thank you, Brad, Stacy, Jim, Chris and Denise!

BOY & GIRL OF THE YEAR

Those campaigning for Man & Woman of the Year will be raising funds in honor of our Boy & Girl of the Year 2009.  The hard work of candidates and sponsor support will help these children and thousands of others in the fight against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.

Girl of the Year

Sara Pacheco

Age: 4

Diagnosed: March of 2008

Diagnosis: Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

Status: currently in remission

Sara loves to dance, swim, play dress up and read.  Her favorite book is Fancy Nancy.  Sara looks forward to motivating the Man of the Year candidates to raise money for cancer research.  She says, " It is an important job and really hard work, but its good work."

Boy of the Year

Kethan Kumar

Age: 7

Diagnosed: June 2006

Diagnosis: ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia)

Status:  Currently undergoing chemotherapy

Kethan loves acting, dancing, art and reading.  He attends first grade at St. Andrew's, and loves when he is feeling well and can go to school!  He is very excited to join Cub Scouts when he is finished with chemotherapy.
