Thank you Chuck Dowdle, 2009 Media Chairman for the Rhubarb Jones Celebrity Golf Classic

Chuck Dowdle is the Sports Director/Anchor for Channel 2 Action News and appears Monday through Friday during the 6 and 11 PM broadcasts. He has been with the station since 1985.

Originally from Atlanta, Chuck attended the University of Georgia in his freshman year, where he played forward for the basketball team. He then transferred to Georgia State, where he was a pitcher for the baseball team in his junior and senior years, before graduating in 1972.

Prior to his arrival at Channel 2 Action News, Chuck worked for WPLG in Miami from 1973 to 1985. During this time, Chuck hosted the Don Shula TV show. He also announced football games for the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami, as well as the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL. (North American Soccer League)

Chuck moved back to his native Atlanta in 1985 and joined Channel 2 as Sports Director/Anchor, the same position he holds today. In the years since, Chuck has been involved with almost every aspect of Atlanta sports, from announcing Falcons' preseason games to hosting "The Mark Richt Show," a program highlighting University of Georgia head football coach Mark Richt. He is also the host of "High-Q", a game show pitting some of the Atlanta region's brightest high-school students against one another in academic competition.

Some of Chuck's accomplishments include being voted Most Popular Sportscaster by the Miami Herald, one of the Ten Best Dressed Men in Sports by Football News, Georgia State Alumnus of the Year, and Best Sportscaster by COBB MAGAZINE twice. In 2003, Chuck received the Furman Bisher Award from the Atlanta Sports Council for Sports Media Excellence.

As an avid golfer and friend of Rhubarb's, Chuck is very excited to be a part of the 2009 Rhubarb Jones Celebrity Golf Tournament!
