1.What is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk?

Light the Night is a unique evening fundraising walk highlighted by a flickering parade of red and white balloons, creating a fun and meaningful event for walkers who help raise funds for a cure.

2.How can my company participate?

Companies participate by organizing teams of employees, including their friends, neighbors and family members, to raise money and walk in the event.

3.Is it difficult to organize a Team?

It's not hard at all! Once you appoint a team captain to act as a liaison between The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society office and your organization, we will provide all the materials and guidelines to ensure success in building a successful Light The Night Team.

4.Does having a Team require some kind of corporate donation?

Corporate donations are encouraged, but not required. Your individual team members will generate the majority of team contributions. Corporate Matching Gifts will enhance your employees' fundraising efforts.

5.How are funds raised through a Light The Night Corporate Team?

Team members are responsible for raising funds from coworkers, friends, neighbors and family members who wish to back the team and support the cause.

6.How is the money collected?

Each team member is responsible for collecting funds from supporters and turning them in to the team captain, who will then forward them to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

7.Is team membership limited to employees of the company?

Not at all. Team participation is open to everyone. Employees are encouraged to invite their family, friends and neighbors to be involved. The magical and uplifting setting of the Light The Night Walk creates a fun, wholesome event that brings coworkers and their families together outside the office for the purpose of helping others.

8.How is the money used?

All proceeds from this year's Light The Night Walk go to further our mission of curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma and improving the quality of life for leukemia patients and their families. This mission is carried out through extensive research for treatments, cures, government advocacy, patient assistance programs, community outreach, and education programs.

9.What can senior management do to facilitate building a Light The Night Team?

Management can encourage team participation in a number of ways: Sign-up for the team, draft and distribute a company-wide memo or email endorsing Light The Night Walk, authorize the purchase of T-shirts for team members to wear to promote their company's commitment to Light The Night.

10.How long is the route?

Actual distance varies per route and city, but the approximate length is 2-3 miles. A relaxed pace is the norm for this casual walk, which takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.

11.Are pets, strollers, bicycles, or in-line skates allowed to participate?

Please check with your local chapter regarding pets. Strollers are welcome, though due to safety precautions, bicycles and in-line skates are not permitted.
