The Louisiana Chapter is offering a summer internship opportunity, as described below, within our fundraising programs. This summer internship is available in the Metairie office or in our Baton Rouge area. All internships are unpaid positions in direct support of the Society's mission. Hours are flexible and may range from 20 to 40 hours per week.
Resumes will be accepted until the position has been filled. Upon reviewing resumes, interviews will be conducted with promising candidates.

Time Requirement: Part time or Full time (20-40 hours per week)
Location: New Orleans or Baton Rouge
Duties:
- Assist with planning kickoff events for two Light The Night Walks
- Prepare materials for kickoff events
- Conduct follow-up phone calls to ensure RSVPs
- Assist with the implementation of marketing plans for Light The Night Walks
- Write, edit and send press releases
- Distribute public service announcements to local media and brochures to retail locations
- Add events to local community calendars
- Investigate additional grassroots marketing opportunities
- Assist with implementation of the communication plan for teams and top fundraisers, including the creation of newsletters and ExactTarget email blasts
- Act as an additional point of contact for team captains and Walkers, who are registering and raising funds for our Fall 2007 Walks
- Assemble walker welcome kits
- Various projects as assigned by Light The Night staff
Desired qualities: Strong communication skills, comfort-level with communicating in-person and on the phone, goal-oriented and self-motivated, ability to multi-task and prioritize, proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to learn the Society's database and software programs such as ExactTarget with training, desire to work in the nonprofit sector a plus.
