Basic Function:
The Greater Los Angeles Deputy Executive Director is responsible for providing critical leadership and direction to the chapter in the accomplishment of its mission. Responsible for overall development and implementation of multiple campaigns and projects with major fiscal and operational impact for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society within the chapter's chartered area. Senior level management responsibility/accountability for financial and human resources. Primary supervisory responsibility for multiple chapter campaigns and initiatives.
Work Direction:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this person will work closely with the Board of Trustees, chapter staff, and volunteers to execute the LLS mission and campaign goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic
o Work closely with the Executive Director to analyze strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for development of chapter campaigns and projects. Monitor community trends among nonprofit organizations and provide reports specific to market demand and competitive advantages in the market.
o Work closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement an annual budget and operations plan.
o Identify target audiences and build appropriate marketing and monitoring strategies to successfully recruit, acknowledge and retain chapter donors/participants.
Campaign
o Develop a comprehensive Plan of Operations for Team In Training and School & Youth, that include specific budgets, timelines, logistics, volunteer activities and recruitment, marketing and sponsorship plans.
o Manage and assure that media, material, in-kind and cash sponsorships are secured through a coordinated plan that includes proposal development, prospect identification, cultivation, retention and recognition.
Development
o Manage chapter relationship with volunteers and develop a speaker's bureau.
o Develop, with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees, chapter relationships with key donors, sponsors, collaborative agencies and patients. Explore potential for corporate and other partnerships that could create new revenue opportunities.
o Assist Executive Director with Board Development (i.e., participate in planning board meetings, annual retreat, and training opportunities.)
Management
o Hire, train, develop and supervise campaign staff in the delivery of Team in Training and School & Youth.
o Oversee staff in the delivery of volunteer management (i.e., recruitment, training, motivation, supervision and evaluation) required to implement chapter operations plan.
o Oversees staff in the delivery of the chapter's marketing plan.
o Manage and assure ongoing tracking and forecasting of income and expenses associated with assigned events and facilitates comprehensive campaign records, evaluations and reports.
o Promote collaboration and integration among all chapter staff and support "one team, one goal" philosophy through personal actions.
Other
o Create and administer (personally or through outside experts) training and professional development for chapter staff.
o Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and its programs to address them.
o Perform other related duties as assigned.
