Last year, more than 700 guests tested their luck at games of chance and won big, raising more than $150,000 for the fight against blood cancer. We are confident that this year's event will be even bigger and better thanks to the fantastic support of our committee and supporters.

2010 Black Tie & Black Jack Planning Committee

Event Chair - Jennifer Rosoff

Jenn Rosoff has been active with LLS since 2008.  She recently served as a member of the Executive Leadership Committee for the 2009 Light The Night Walk in Manhattan. When Jenn became involved with LLS she had no personal connection to blood cancer.   However, in an ironic twist of fate, her father was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier this year. Consequently, Jenn's determination and efforts to help raise both money and awareness have become ever more important.  Jenn works at Cosmopolitan magazine where she is a FUN FEARLESS FEMALE and in her spare time she tries to laugh as much as possible and enjoy Sunday fundays - especially if they involve watching the Giants or Yankees.

Event Vice Chair- Kara Hendel

Kara Hendel has been a member of Society Ties and active with LLS since 2008. She became involved with LLS after her step- dad was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Since then, her efforts have been focused on supporting her family and raising money to find a cure. Having attended her first Black Tie Black Jack last year, she is looking forward to vice-chairing this year's event and making it the most successful yet!  She currently works in advertising and enjoys exploring NYC and everything it has to offer. Go Hoosiers!

Society Ties Chair - Gayle Silverman

Gayle Silverman currently works at Pfizer and is serving as chair of Society Ties for the third year in a row. Since she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2001 she has been very active with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society both as a fundraiser and an inspiring guest speaker. She has raised thousands of dollars for cancer research, as well as inspired thousands of others to join in the fight against cancer. When asked to give advice to someone after being affected by cancer she replied, "Take advantage of every day. Don't concentrate on whether or not there may be a few days or hours left, but make each moment that you have truly count." Her motto is "live every day as if it were your last, because one of these days it will be. And most importantly, make sure you have no regrets, then you know you have lived your life to the fullest and made it the best you possibly could." Her cancer is now in complete remission.
