Ralph Barringer

Ralph Barringer is a sales representative with Northwestern Mutual.  Ralph was motivated to accept his nomination in honor of a high school and college friend who died from cancer in his early 20s.  Ralph enlisted the help of his wife, Kay, and good friend Colin Underhill to help manage his fundraising campaign.  Ralph, along with Colin and his family, hosted over 200 people at a wine tasting event at the new Westport Village.  Ralph said that he is "very thankful for the support that individuals gave to Colin's and my campaign.  I am humbled that, as a group, we raised over $132,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society."

Leigh Ann Martin

Leigh Ann Martin was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in April 2006 and is now in remission.  In addition to supporting her family's construction business, Leigh Ann also works as a PharmD at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she specializes in anticoagulation management.  She is a lifelong Louisville resident with her husband Rick and two daughters: Cameron (6) and Tessa (3).  She enjoys playing tennis and is so grateful to her tennis friend Deborah Ice for serving as her campaign manager.  Leigh Ann and Deborah were very creative in sending letters, partnering with local businesses for proceeds days, obtaining unique silent auction packages, and hosting a dinner party to raise money for the Society.  Leigh Ann said, "I want to send a heartfelt thank you to all my supporters - the donors are the real Champions of Hope.  My family and friends were the inspiration for me with all their love, care, and support during my illness.  I wanted to give back to the cause and help others find a cure for blood cancers."
