2007 Event Facts

The 2nd Annual Leukemia Ball was held on Saturday, February 24, 2007, at  the Embassy Suites Convention Center.  More than 350 guests enjoyed a Mardi Gras themed evening, including wonderful food, live and silent auctions, and music by Joe Clarke Big Band.  The event raised more then $100,000 to support research and patient services programs of The Society.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of The Society's annual Partners in Progress Awards to two Charleston community members for their contributions and service that have impacted our mission to find a cure for blood cancer: Barbara Halpern a longtime supporter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its Team in Training program for her volunteer service, great example, dedication, and compassion and Daniel Fernandes, Ph.D., D.Sc., Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Medical University of South Carolina-Hollings Cancer Center for his current research efforts as well as, his commitment and passion to our mission.  Dr. Fernandes is funded in part through a translational grant from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Heartfelt thanks to the efforts of our planning committee, table and in-kind sponsors, auction contributors, event volunteers and staff, and guests for your continued support to help end blood cancer.  We hope to see you back next year for our 3rd Annual Leukemia Ball.
