Frequently Asked Questions:

Can Additional Donations be Handed in at Registration?

Additional gifts are always welcomed at registration, however; your minimum of $250 is due to LLS's Brookfield office (see pg. 2 for address) by July 6, 2009. The $250 can be made up of online donations as well as check and credit slips mailed to the office. Your rider collection envelope will be mailed to you after May 12th.

Please mail your rider collection envelope back with any checks, credit slips, or matching donation forms to be included in the minimum fundraising. Incentives will be based on all donations turned in by 8/7/09.

Have the routes changed this year?

Route changes are still in effect through Port Washington and Sturgeon Bay. The route is subject to change due to construction. For this reason, we do not release the route map until right before the ride. More information will be available when the route map is released.

Where Can I Get A Route Map?

Route maps will be available at the start of both days as well as each rest stop.

What Time Do We Start? Is it a mass start?

The ride officially starts at 7:30. The start is very relaxed, as the Mequon roads are not closed off for our event. We will not have rest stops open before 7:30 a.m. and we would like all riders to be on the route by 8:00 a.m.

What Happens If It Rains?

Rain itself will not cancel the ride, however; lightning will delay it. Please pay attention to warnings from staff and volunteers. Should you find yourself in an electrical storm, please refer to your route map for instructions.

Where Can I Put My Luggage?

In Mequon, there will be luggage tables where you can put a tag on each piece of luggage. Luggage will be lined alphabetically near these tables. It will be loaded into a truck after the ride has begun and transported to Manitowoc. Similar procedures will be followed in Manitowoc to Sturgeon Bay.

How Does My Bike And Luggage Get Home?

Bikes will be loaded on moving trucks and transported once the truck is full (about 200 bikes per truck).

Luggage will need to be taken on the Coach Bus that you are riding on. We will not be transporting luggage back to MATC in a separate vehicle. You will be responsible to get your luggage in the storage areas underneath your bus.

Are We Responsible For Our Own Meals?

No. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for all the riders and volunteers. We will also provide snacks on Saturday night. Family members joining you will need to have purchased a wristband prior to the event to participate in the meal. Wristbands can be purchased only before July 7th. A wristband order form can be found on the website.

What are the sleeping accommodations at the UW-Manitowoc Campus?

Riders choosing to stay indoors at the UW-Manitowoc campus will sleep in classrooms. It is highly recommended that you bring an air mattress and sleeping bag to sleep on. We do have indoor showers and bathroom facilities available.

How Do I Get To My Hotel in Manitowoc?

There will be school buses making continuous loops through the parking lot on the west side. They will be going to Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Super 8, Lighthouse Inn, Best Western (formerly Inn at MaritimeBay), AmericInn, Heritage Inn, Village Inn and the Downtown area. Additional shuttles have been added this year to reduce wait times.

When Will I Get Home On Sunday?

Everything will depend on weather and the riders. As soon as we load a full truck (bikes), we can start sending buses. There will some wait time involved in Sturgeon Bay. Enjoy the park and the festivities. Plan on not returning until at least 6:00 p.m.

Where Are The Showers?

At UW Manitowoc they are located near the gym. In Potawatomi State Park, they are about ˝ mile from the finish. There will be a shuttle running from the 2nd parking lot to and from the showers.

Do I Need To Be At The Award Ceremony?

You will WANT to be at the awards ceremony! Not only will we be announcing the top fundraisers, but other awards will be given out as well! You may be one to receive one! We will also be doing the raffle and door prize drawings at that time!
