The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society sponsors a range of programs of interest to patients and caregivers.  Programs are scheduled throughout Washington and Alaska.  Programs offered include:

Welcome Back: Facilitating the School Experience for Childhood Cancer Survivors

Please join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for this educational program for school professionals. The goal of this program is to educate school personnel and parents on the cognitive and late effects of childhood cancer treatment to improve the transition of childhood cancer survivors from clinic to classroom.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Discuss the treatment of childhood cancers and the side effects of survivorship
  • Recognize the physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges that childhood cancer survivors face
  • Identify laws protecting the rights of these children
  • Develop strategies to help meet students' short- and long-term educational needs
  • Access resources that support schools and the families of childhood cancer survivors

The program is sponsored by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Treatment decisions
  • Emotional aspects and support
  • Being a partner in your care
  • Communicating with your healthcare team
  • Question-and-answer session

The program is free but pre-registration is required.  The program is sponsored by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

 

Please join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for a patient program on myeloma.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Overview of myeloma
  • Review of current and emerging drug therapies
  • Management of disease and treatment-related side effects
  • Emotional aspects and support
  • Question & answer session 

The program is free but pre-registration is required.  This program is supported through an unrestricted educational grant from Celgene and Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company.

 

Join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for this informative program on clinical trials. Participants will learn the basics about clinical trials and how to gain access to the latest new treatments. 

Topics for this program will include :

  • How new drugs are discovered, researched, and approved for treatment
  • Distinguishing fact from fiction when it comes to clinical trials
  • How to talk to your doctor about clinical trials as a possible treatment option
  • Recent and ongoing advances in the treatment of blood cancers
  • How to locate clinical trials that may be right for you

The program is free but pre-registration is required.  This program is provided through an unrestricted educational grant from Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company.
