The Fidler 5K memorializes Paul Fidler, Ph.D., professor emeritus at the University of South Carolina (USC), and creates an awareness of blood cancer and its impact on human lives. Dr. Fidler worked at USC for more than 35 years and fought chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
All proceeds from the Fidler 5K will be donated in his name to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphomae and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The Fidler 5K is staged in the beautiful and historic downtown Columbia, SC. The course begins on Wheat street at the historic USC campus and continues through several residential areas and includes some hills. The 2008 race date will be determined shortly.
