Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter Local Services

The Society's comprehensive Patient Services programs provides free, up-to-date information on blood cancers and their treatments by phone or the web. Also provdes educational seminars for patients and families, Family Support Groups, First Connection (over-the-phone peer counseling) and direct patient financial assistance.

Programs and Services

  • Patient Financial Aid Program
    The Society provides a limited amount of financial assistance per fiscal year to help patients with significant financial need who are under a doctor's care for a confirmed blood cancer diagnosis.financial. To apply please contact Nancy Chhum or Click here to download application online.
                            
  • Family Support Groups
    The Society sponsor Family Support Groups for families living throughout the Eastern Pennsylvania region. These groups, facilitated by healthcare professionals, are at not cost to attend. Contact Nikole Papas or Mary Ann Chupella to find a group in your area.
                                      
  • First Connection
    Help for those who have recently been diagnosed is only a phone call away thanks to the Society's First Connection Program, which matches newly diagnosed patients with others who have successfully completed treatment for a similar diagnosis. The program focuses on information exchange, emotional support and hope. Please contact your local office to request a First Connection or Click here to submit a request online. 
                              
  • The Trish Greene Back to School Program for the Child with Cancer
    Information and materials to help children make the transition from clinic to classroom is available for students, parents, educators and healthcare professionals. Please contact the Eastern PA Chapter.

Education

  • Patient Education Programs
    With the tremendous amount of research being done for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, the information available can be overwhelming. The Society can help guide those who have been touched by blood cancer.

  • Professional Education Programs
    The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society offers several professional programs throughout the year for nurses and social workers. These programs provide an opportunity to learn about the latest in treatment advances, information resources and psychosocial issues. Programs also offer Continuing Education Units.

  • Information and Referral
    Information about local community resources are available to assist your family and can be obtained from your local office. Disease-and treatment-specific booklets and fact sheets are also available, free of charge or Click here to order Booklets and Materials online, free of charge.

Advocacy

Our Advocacy Network works to increase federal funding for research and for improvements to the healthcare delivery system that will benefit blood cancer patients and their families. Advocacy volunteers contact their legislators using information provided in the Society's nationally published Legislative Update. Local Family Support Groups - We sponsor free support groups for patients and families living throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.
