LLS sponsors a range of education programs of interest to patients, caregivers and professionals alike. Topics include:

  • Sending child cancer survivors back to school
  • Disease-specific and emerging therapies
  • Cancer treatment for older adults

Here's what is coming up in the SF Bay Area. Check back frequently for new programs.

Date: Monday, September 14, 2009
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Complimentary dinner provided, please RSVP below.
Location: John Muir Medical Center, Aspen Room, 1601 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, 94596
Speaker: Jeanne Kane, MA, H.E.A.L. Program Coordinator, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital

Families, school teachers, nurses, social workers, guidance counselors and administrators are welcome to attend this free education program. At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe common childhood cancers and treatments
  • Identify challenges for survivors: returning to school, throughout their education and into young adulthood
  • Explain laws that protect childhood cancer survivors' rights
  •  Implement strategies to help meet students' short and long-term educational needs

Please note: Pre-registration for this free program is required. Dinner will be served to all before the program. Shortly before the program begins, children will move next door with Nancy Horan, Pediatric Oncology RN (and her helpers) to play and make art projects.
