Alison Starling

ABC7/WJLA-TV's Good Morning

Washington Co-Anchor

This is Alison's third turn in the Washington D.C. area. She lived in the nation's capital as a child while her father worked for the U.S. Trade Representative. She later spent a summer in D.C. as a Congressional intern.  Alison has been co-anchor of Good Morning Washington and ABC7 News at Noon since January, 2004.

Alison joined the WJLA staff in August, 2003. She came to ABC 7 News from KIRO-TV in Seattle where she spent three years as a reporter and anchor. While in the Pacific Northwest, Alison covered major local and national stories, including the Seattle Earthquake and the Tacoma connection to the DC area sniper case. Alison also brought live coverage of the aftermath of the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy from Texas.

Prior to Seattle Alison was a reporter and morning anchor at WDEF in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Alison is a native Floridian, and like many of her family members, graduated from the University of Florida and is a proud Gator! After graduation, she earned a Cultural Ambassadorial  Scholarship from Rotary International to study in France in 1995.

In June, 2005, Washingtonian Magazine named Alison one of the DC area's rising stars in local television news. She enjoys charity and community involvement and has had three Little Sisters from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America over the last ten years. She now enjoys spending time with her current Little Sister, Awilda. Alison is also a member of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area.

In November, 2006, Alison took over the long running and much loved series "Working Woman."  What Kathleen Matthews began more than a dozen years ago continues as Alison profiles accomplished, respected women in the Washington area who contribute to the community, their jobs and their families in unique ways.  Alison produces and writes these reports and is always looking for new women to showcase.

Brian Egan

WMZW Morning Show Host

Brian Egan grew up right here in the   National Capital Area, the third of six children.  A 1982 graduate of Little Flower Grade School in Bethesda, and 1986 graduate of Gonzaga High School, Brian would learn about Leukemia the summer before heading to college.  His grade school sweetheart Holly Robichaud was diagnosed that August and 5 months later in January of 1987, Holly lost her battle.  The healing power of music drew Brian to the college radio station during the remaining years at St. Joe's in Philadelphia.  An radio station internship at WEGX led Brian to pursue radio as a career, and after graduation in 1990, Brian got his first job in radio here in D.C. at MIX 107.3 answering telephones for the nighttime DJs.

Small market on-air jobs followed in Southern Maryland, then Martinsburg, WV and Knoxville, TN, where Brian met his future bride, Jennifer in 1993.  They would marry in 1997.  From 1994-2007 Brian was half of the CMA Award winning Ben & Brian Morning Show with Ben Campbell.  After five years in D.C.,  Ben made the tough decision to return to Phoenix in 2007 to be closer to his wife's family.  Brian understood completely how important it is to be around family.  That was never more true than in 2005 when Brian's wife Jen, was diagnosed with Leukemia.  Having his siblings nearby and his Mom living a mile and a half away helped Brian and Jen tremendously as they navigated the very difficult first few months of "living with the disease."  Thanks to the breakthrough drug Gleevec, Jennifer's CML remains in check today and she is able to live quite normally.  Jennifer is also part of a clinical vaccine trial at Johns Hopkins that is very promising.

Brian's job at WMZQ and his passion for the Society's Mission gave him the perfect platform to become a more vocal advocate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In 2006, Brian was the second Runner Up in the Man of the Year competition raising over $102,000.  In 2007, Brian also got involved in Team in Training, participating in the Nations Triathlon and more recently in the Suntrust National Marathon and the Country Music Marathon.  Brian continues to co-host mornings on WMZQ with Jenni Chase, and lives in Chevy Chase, with his two daughters, Madeline and Mackenzie.
