Please join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this fall for its annual Dan Davis Memorial Turkey Trot in Greenville, SC!
This event, held at Furman University Physical Activity Center, consists of a 5K run and walk and a quarter-mile kids fun run that winds around the beautiful Furman Lake.
The event is held in memory of our great friend and coach, Dan Davis, who along with fellow Team In Training® (TNT) coaches Ann Holder and Gary Johnsen, organized the first Turkey Trot in 2001. Dan, who passed away on Feb. 15, 2002, was a senior systems engineer in technology operations at Liberty Life. He served in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division and received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Dan was active in the community and was serving as a TNT summer coach when he died. During his six-year association with TNT and the Society, he motivated hundreds of novice and casual runners with his unique coaching style. His encouragement helped them to be more than just runners; he helped them to be marathoners and to be heroes in the battles against leukemia and all blood cancers.
