Pennies for Patients

Pennies for Patients is a service learning program that saves lives.  Every winter, students across the country bring spare change to school and donate it in honor of local student Hereos who are blood cancer survivors.  

In 2009, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) partnered with almost 800 schools in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and raised $728,000!  Click here to see last year's school donations as well as photos from the top five schools.

Did you know?

• Every 4 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer.  Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
• Is it estimated that 1 of every 403 children in the Midwest will be diagnosed with a cancer before age 15.
• Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer in children and young adults under age 20.
• LLS invests millions of dollars from Pennies for Patients in research and patient services.  Every penny counts!
