The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's
Man or Woman of the Year!

Beginning with the campaign kickoff on April 1, female team members will fundraise in honor of our Boy of the Year Alex Wiser as male team members will fundraise in honor of Girl of the Year Paige Malewicz. Each dollar raised will count as one vote for the individual and will get the teams one step closer to their goal of $150,000 for blood cancer research.

How It Works:

Michigan participants will work as a team to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission. Individual efforts will be tracked as each member strives to reach a team goal. The top fundraising man and woman from the team will be named as "Team Anchors" and will be recognized in a national advertisement in USA Today. The advertisement will also feature photographs of the top male and female fundraiser in the nation.

The team accomplishments will be announced after 10 weeks of fundraising at the Grand Finale Celebration, which will be held the weekend of June 12-14 at the Southfield Civic Center. This celebration will allow all team members to celebrate the contributions to fighting blood cancer as well as mark the announcement of the Michigan team anchors.

The first Man & Woman of the Year campaign began in 1990 and has since raised more than $7.3 million for blood cancer research and patient services. With a statewide goal of raising $150,000 in 2009, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Michigan Chapter is searching for dedicated, compassionate individuals to join the fight against blood cancers.

With one new person being diagnosed with blood cancer every four minutes, the efforts of these men and women will make a difference in the lives of those who struggle with the battle against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.

LLS is accepting candidates for the
2009 Man & Woman of the Year campaign.
