Dear Friend of the Society, With Mother's Day coming soon, I thought you'd like to meet a special volunteer for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society whose portrayal of a mother has won national acclaim. If you're a television viewer, you're likely familiar with the CBS-TV hit show Everybody Loves Raymond. One of the main characters on the show is Raymond's mother, Marie Barone, who is portrayed by Emmy Award winner Doris Roberts.
In addition to her entertainment career, Doris Roberts has another role that she is passionate about: advancing the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Doris approached the Society ten years ago and offered to help us fight leukemia, which claimed the life of her husband, award winning author William Goyen. Since that time, Doris has tirelessly given of her time, talents and self to advance the fight against blood-related cancers, including making appearances around the country at our fundraising events and promoting our School & YouthTM Programs. This Mother's Day, we salute Doris Roberts, and all mothers, parents and patients who are on the front lines of the battle against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. If you'd like to honor a mom who has made a difference in your life or the lives of others, our eGreetings cards are a great way to send a caring message. Sincerely, Dwayne Howell President & CEO |
