The Leukemia Cup Regatta on White Bear Lake

2009 Leukemia Cup Regatta Celebrates Another Great Year
More than 250 sailors raised over $78,000 at the Minnesota Chapter's sixth annual Leukemia Cup Regatta on White Bear Lake.  Since the first Regatta on White Bear Lake in 2004, more than $410,000 has been raised for lifesaving research and patient services.  Thank you to all of those who took part in this year's Leukemia Cup Regatta.  All of your help, support, and contributions have been invaluable in making the Leukemia Cup Regatta Minnesota's most successful charitable sailing event.  Read the complete news release.

Leukemia Cup
Congratulations to Echo Too, winner of the 2009 Leukemia Cup!  The Leukemia Cup is awarded to the top fundraising boat (skipper and crew totals combined).  The crew of the Echo Too, made up of Lisa Mathewson, Anne Forsman, Mark Berens, and Dave Kenyon raised over $15,000.  Runners up for the Leukemia Cup were LCYC, skippered by Maggie Simons, Voodoo Chile, skippered by Lawrie Yearsley, Green Bean, skippered by Norm Schultz, and Heeling Power, skippered by Roger Mortenson.

Fantasy Sail
Congratulations to the sailors who qualified for the Fantasy Sail with Gary Jobson in San Francisco, CA: Brian Mathewson and Maggie Simons.  To qualify for the Fantasy Sail, sailors must raise at least $8,500.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta series is about more than boats and crews racing.  It's about thousands of sailors who have elevated their competition to a whole new level - they race to save lives.

Participants in the Regatta raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of local patient honorees: the Honored Skipper and Honored Crew Member.  These honorees provide inspiration and motivation, and represent the daily and lifelong challenges that a blood cancer diagnosis brings.
